Aphrodite Family Tree: Aphrodite is the ancient Greek goddess of love, beauty, pleasure, passion, and prostitution. Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus. But she was not faithful to her husband. She managed to have multiple husbands and cheated Hephaestus. Thus she is also known as the goddess of Sacred Prostitution, now generally seen as erroneous. Aphrodite is worshipped by greek people as worrier goddess too. Aphrodite is believed to be very beautiful.
There are two stories about the birth of Aphrodite. Aphrodite is believed to be created by Ocean. The story about the birth of Aphrodite says that she was created off the coast of Cythera by the foam of Uranus Genitals, which was cut and thrown by Cronus in Sea. So, she is the daughter of Uranus and Aunt of Hades (God of Underworld) according to Hades Family Tree.
But another story by Homer's Iliad, says that Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Zeus was the son of Cronus and grandson of Uranus. Cronus was the son of Uranus.
The story makes the following two conclusions:
The Homers Illiad story says that Aphrodite was the daughter of Zeus and Dione. Dione was an ancient Greek goddess primarily known from Book V of Homer's Iliad, where she tends to the wounds suffered by her daughter Aphrodite. One source depicts her as the wife of Zeus.
Dione and Zeus gave birth to Aphrodite and did her marriage to Hephaestus so that there will be no conflict among others to get Aphrodite. Aphrodite made many relations outside marriage. She also gave birth to several Children from different Gods.
Aphrodite was married to Hephaestus but she didn't like him. Hephaestus was the god of fire and Volcanos. Aphrodite was in relation with other Gods such as Hermes, Ares, Adonis, Dionysus, Poseidon, Ankhises, Phaethon, and Boutes, etc.
She made physical relation with all these Gods and had children with them. Aphrodite had most children with Ares, the God of Sea. It makes sense also because Aphrodite herself was created from the Sea.
Aphrodite had the power to make anyone fall in love with her just by the shoot of an arrow. She used this power on all Gods.
Aphrodite had no child with Hephaestus as she didn't like him. But with Ares (God of Sea) she had 10 children Anteros, Deimos, Eros, Himeros, Pothos, Harmonia, Phobos, Hydelegos, Antres, and Arestia.
