Hades Family Tree [1st God of Underworld]

Hades Family Tree: In Ancient Greek mythology, hades is the God of Underworld and death. Hades rules the dead people and maintain the kingdom of Underworld. He lives with his wife Persephone and a giant dog who has three heads. Hades also has Charos, the angel of the dead who carries the souls of the dead with a boat from the world of the living people to dead people's world. Hades is the son of  Cronus and Rhea. Hades fought and killed his own father in the divine battle for the kingdom. This battle lasted for 10 years.

2. History of Hades Family Tree


Hades family Tree Starts from Goddess Gaea. Goddess Gaea is seen as the mother earth in ancient Greek mythology. She doesn't have any parents. Gaea was created from dark, silent, formless and infinite oddity with no trace of life. Gaea is the Grandmother of Hades.

She led the foundation of divine Olympian Gods. Uranus, grandfather of Hades also took birth by Gaea. Later Uranus married Gaea, his own mother. The couple created twelve Titans, three Cyclopes and three "Hecatoncheires".

Uranus Genitals were destroyed by his son Cronus as ordered by Gaea.

3. Cronus [Father of Hades]


Hades father was Cronus. Cronus was the successor of hades Grandfather, Uranus. Cronus was the youngest child of Uranus and Gaea. Ancient Greek documents claim that He was weak by the body but smart by the brain.

Cronus married to his own sister Rhea. He dethroned his father Uranus and took his place as the king of Heaven. He believed in a prophecy that his children will dethrone him on getting young. To Stop this, Cronus Swallowed every child born to Rhea. But Rhea made his youngest child Zeus Survives.

Later Zeus fought with Cronus and made his siblings free who were swallowed and captured by Cronus.

Hades father Cronus had a huge number of Siblings. They all were the uncle of Hades and Olympian Gods with supernatural forces.

4. Rhea [Mother of Hades]


Rhea was the mother of hades. She was the daughter of the same Uranus and Gaea. Cronus married his own sister.Cronus and Rhea Gave birth to 14 children including hades.

5. Wife of Hades


Persephone was the wife of Hades. She was the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Persephone was abducted by hades and then married. She has the divine power of placing the effect the curses on the souls of the dead people. After Marriage Hades made her the queen of Underworld.

There were too many sibling of Persephone such as  Aeacus, Angelos, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Arion, Artemis, Athena, Chrysothemis, Despoina, Dionysus, Eileithyia, Enyo, Eris, Ersa, Eubuleus, Hebe, Helen of Troy, Hephaestus, Heracles, Hermes, Minos, Pandia, Philomelus, Plutus, Perseus, Rhadamanthus, the Graces, the Horae, the Litae, the Muses, and the Moirai.

6. Children of Hades


According to some sources, Persephone is the mother of Zeus' sons DionysusIacchus, or Zagreus. But Orphic Hymns claims that Hades had only two children with Persephone,  Dionysus, and Melinoe.

7. Conclusion


As this is the mythology of Greece, nobody can claim if Hades is real or not. But there are many statues, sculpture, coins, letters are found indicates that ancient greek's considered them real. Hades Family Tree is one of the interesting lineages in olympian Greek Gods Mythology.
