Martha Wayles (1748-1782) was the Thomas Jefferson wife. She was born on October 30, 1748, in Charles City, Virginia. Thomas and Martha did love marriage. Martha was widows of one of Thomas Jefferson's classmate, Bathurst Skelton.
Father of Martha Wayles:  John Wayles (1715–1773). He was an attorney and slave trader and business agent.

Mother of Marhta Wayles: Martha Eppes Wayles, A writer

When  Martha Epps Wayles was married to John Wayles, Martha's parents gave the new couple an African slave woman and her young daughter Elizabeth ( Betty Hemings). Betty Hemings later gives birth to Sally Hemings.

There is a "growing historical consensus" among scholars of Jefferson that  Thomas Jefferson had a long-term relationship with Sally Hemings (Daughter of Betty Hemings) after the death of his wife.

Scholars believe that Jefferson was the father of  Sally Hemings' five children born after the death of his wife Martha. Four of Hemings' children survived to adulthood. Sally Hemings died in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 1835.
