Davy Crockett Family Tree: Davy Crockett was an American Frontiersman, Politician, soldier. He was born on 17 August 1786 in Greene County, Tennessee. He is best known for his contribution to the Texas independence from Mexico Troops. Besides being the politician, he fought the battle of Almano with his friends and eventually got executed after they lost the battle.

Davy Crockett is one of the most celebrated people in American history.  In 1821 Crockett represented Tennessee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Davy was active in politics till 1835. After losing the election in 1835, He went to Texas with his three friends where he fought the war.

The oldest known member of the Davy Crockett Family is Gabriel Gustave de Crocketagne. He was the Great Great Great Great Grandfather of David Crockett. Crockett Family Carries the French-Huguenot ancestry. Gabriel had a Son named Saussure Peronette de Crocketagne. Saussure  Married to Louise de Saix and became the inhabitant of Ireland after migration. Saussure also changed his surname from Crocketagne to Crockett in Ireland.

Joseph Louis was the son of Saussure. Joseph Married to Sarah Stewart. After Marriage the newlywed couple migrated to New York and started living here. A son named William David was born here. William was the Great Grandfather of Davy Crockett. He married Elizabeth Boulay in New York. William and Elizabeth born a son named David in Pennsylvania.

When David became an adult he married to Elizabeth Hedge.  David and Elizabeth Hedge became the parent of 7 children David Jr., Robert, John, Alexander, James, Joseph, and William.  John Crockett was one of them. Rebecca Crockett was the mother of Davy Crocket. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, United States. She was the daughter of  Nathan Hawkins and Ruth Hawkins. Davy Crocket mother had done three marriages with Anthony Crockett, Zachariah Ellis, and John Crockett. From All these marriages she had 14 children including  Sarah Crockett, Ann Crockett, Elizabeth Rebecca Crockett, Margaret Jane Crockett, Benjamin Franklin Ellis, and Davy Crocket. All of these were Davy Crockett siblings.

Davy Crockett Father John was in debt to a  person "John Canady". Davy Crockett was working on his farm to pay off his father's loan. Here he met with the Canady's niece Amy Summer. Davy fell in love with her and wanted to marry her. He asked Amy for marriage. But after the engagement, Amy Summer married to another Young man. This incident broke Davy Crockett.

In the Year 1806, Davy married Mary Polly Finley, daughter of Jean. His first wife died in 1815.  In 1815, after the death of his first wife Mary Polly Finley, he married Elizabeth Patton a widow. She already had a daughter (Margeret Ann)and a son (George). The second marriage was long-lasting. Davy Crockett was the second father of Margeret Ann and Geroge.

John Wesley Crockett also became American politician who represented Tennessee's Twelfth Congressional District in the United States House of Representatives. It was the same district his father, David Crockett, had represented earlier before going on the "war of Almano".

8. Living Descendants of Davy Crockett


The latest known descendant of Davy Crockett is Charles Walton Crockett. He was born in 1849 and died in 1920. Charles was the son of John Wesley Crockett. Nobody can deny the contribution of David Davy Crockett in the Texas Independence war. His story motivated many Texans to join the independence post to his death. Not only Davy Crockett, but his family members also contributed to Texas Independence. In Davy Crockett Family Tree, Davy's brother James was captured by troops and held for seventeen years. In Texas, He is popularly referred to as "King of the Wild Frontier"
